What to Expect at a Psilocybin Healing Center in Denver
What to Expect at a Psilocybin Healing Center in Denver
If you've been curious about psilocybin therapy but aren't sure what actually happens when you walk through the door, you're not alone. Most people searching for a licensed healing center in Denver have never experienced anything like this before. The mystery of the unknown is one of the biggest things that holds people back.
This guide walks you through exactly what to expect — from your first phone call to the days after your session — so you can make a clear, informed decision.
What Is a Licensed Psilocybin Healing Center?
Since Colorado voters passed Proposition 122 in 2022, adults 21 and older can access psilocybin services at state-licensed healing centers. These are not underground therapy sessions or unlicensed retreats. Every healing center operating legally in Colorado has been licensed by the Colorado Natural Medicine Division, follows strict DORA regulations, and employs trained, licensed facilitators.
Vivid Minds Wellness (License #NMHC-00003) was among the first licensed psilocybin healing centers in Denver. We operate at 1545 S Broadway, and every session is conducted by a licensed facilitator who has completed state-required training.
Step One — Booking and Intake
Everything starts before you arrive. When you book a session at Vivid Minds Wellness, you'll complete a digital intake form before your first visit. This is required under Colorado's Prop 122 regulations and covers: basic medical and psychiatric history, current medications, prior experience with psychedelics (if any), your intentions and goals for the session, and any questions or concerns you have.
This is not a test you can pass or fail. It is a genuine screening process designed to make sure psilocybin is right for you and to help your facilitator understand how to support you best.
You can book online at vividmindswellness.com or call or text us at 720-210-6553. Group sessions require booking at least 24 hours in advance. Our private 8-hour journey requires 72 hours advance notice.
What to Do Before You Arrive
The day before your session
Get a full night of sleep. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours. Eat a light, nourishing meal. Reduce caffeine if you can. Set aside time for quiet reflection — journaling about your intentions is useful, though not required.
The day of your session
Eat a light meal 2–4 hours before your session. Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Bring layers, as body temperature can shift during a psilocybin experience. Bring water, a journal if you like to write, and anything personally meaningful. Put your phone on silent when you arrive.
Arriving at Vivid Minds Wellness
Our healing center is located at 1545 S Broadway in Denver's South Broadway district. When you arrive, you'll be greeted by your facilitator. The space is designed for comfort and calm. You'll have time to settle in, ask any last-minute questions, and get oriented before anything begins.
For group sessions, you'll meet the other participants. Our group sessions have between 4 and 8 people — intimate by design. Most people find the shared experience enhances rather than distracts from their own journey.
The Session Itself
Microdose sessions — 90 minutes, $150/person
Our three microdose formats — Microdose Yoga & Sound Bath, Microdose Breathwork, and Pure Journey — use a 2mg psilocybin dose. At this level, most people describe a gentle shift: colors slightly more vivid, emotions more accessible, the body more relaxed. You are fully present throughout. These are ideal entry points for anyone new to psilocybin.
Full-dose group sessions — 3 hours, $300/person
Our Extended Journey, Art Therapy Journey, and Extended Yoga & Sound Bath sessions use a 12mg psilocybin dose. This produces a more significant experience — deeper introspection, vivid sensory shifts, and pronounced emotional access. You'll have your eyes closed for much of the session, wearing an eye mask and listening to curated music. Your facilitator is present and attentive throughout.
Private 8-hour journey — $2,800
Our private one-on-one session uses a high dose (35–50mg) and spans eight hours with a dedicated licensed facilitator. This is designed for people ready for deep, comprehensive work. Complete privacy, full facilitator attention, and the space and time to go wherever the experience takes you.
After Your Session — Integration
What happens after a psilocybin session often matters more than the session itself. This is what practitioners call integration — the process of making meaning from your experience and translating it into lasting change in daily life.
At the end of every Vivid Minds session, we allow time for a brief integration conversation. We also maintain a list of Denver therapists who specialize in psychedelic integration and are happy to connect you with someone who is a good fit.
Don't make major decisions in the 24–48 hours after a session. Give yourself time to rest, reflect, and let the experience settle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior psychedelic experience?
No. The majority of our clients have never used psilocybin before. Our intake process and facilitator support are specifically designed to help first-timers have a safe, meaningful experience.
Will I have a 'bad trip'?
Difficult experiences can happen, and they're not necessarily bad — sometimes the most challenging moments in a session are the most useful. What matters is that you have an experienced facilitator present to help you navigate anything that arises.
Can I choose what session to start with?
Absolutely. Many people start with a microdose session to get comfortable with the space and facilitator before choosing a higher-dose experience. There is no pressure to start anywhere other than where you feel ready.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Everything that happens in your session stays between you and your facilitator, consistent with standard professional confidentiality. We do not share client information.
